The Halala Joburg Awards nominations include all projects operational by the end of 2010.

- The Halala Joburg Awards are open to individuals and projects. This includes, but is not limited to companies (from micro- to multi-national), consortiums, Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), Joint Ventures (JVs), Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), CBOs and FBOs or their individual representatives.
- The Halala Joburg Awards nominations include all projects operational by the end of 2011.
- Departments, agencies and municipal owned entities under the authority of the City of Johannesburg are not eligible for nomination in their joint or individual capacities, as a manifestation of deliveries that would be carried out as part of their official mandates. They may be nominated within a PPP, providing that the private sector partners are the project principals. Please note that this does not exclude other spheres of government.
- Individual nominations must identify people who have made sustained, verifiable and recognised contributions to the built environment, quality of life and social cohesion of the Joburg inner city.
Project specifications
- Projects submitted must be located within the Inner City (Region F) of Johannesburg (See the map below).

- The projects must have made a substantial difference to Joburg's regeneration mandate.
- JDA is flexible in terms of the age of a nominated project, but will be biased towards projects that have been built in the past 10 years, as long as the projects are operational on the date of closure of nominations. This is important in order for JDA to be in a position to research these projects as successful case studies.
- It is permissible to nominate oneself or a project in which one has been a principal.
Nomination and/or application process
- The nomination process commences on 15 March 2011 and will close on 18 April 2011. Winners will be announced at a Seminar and Awards Ceremony in June 2011.
- All nominations require an initial ‘Trigger’ nomination form to be fully completed, click here to nominate.
- All nomination ‘Trigger’ forms must be fully completed by the nominator, detailing the contact details of the nominated project or person. If the details are incorrect, the Trigger form will not go forward to the application stage.
- On submission of your entry form, an application form will be forwarded to the nominee. This form must be fully completed as per the application guidelines supplied, ensuring that all requested information and support materials are provided in line with the application requirements and format.
- All application forms must be signed by the person who submitted the application and by the senior project manager and/or principal, thus acknowledging their agreement to abide by and provide for all application rules, regulations and support materials.
- All completed, signed applications must be handed to reception at the JDA (physical address below). On delivery, a register will be need to signed, noting the date and time.

- All application forms received will be acknowledged by e-mail within 3 working days of receipt.
Gandhi Square
- Should any additional support materials be required by the Adjudication Team, the support team will liaise with the nominee telephonically or at a pre-arranged site meeting regarding the nature, type and level of detail required.
- Please note that either the Adjudication Panel and / or the support team members may request a site visit to familiarise themselves with the project or to verify information provided in the application. This would be pre-arranged at the convenience of all parties, within the timeframe of the Awards adjudication phase (15 March -–18 April 2011).
- Should your nomination be short-listed, you may be required to provide additional, detailed information not previously supplied that could include confidential information. This will remain within the Adjudication Panel and confidentiality will be observed. Again please note that support materials will not be returned and submission of original documents is not advised.
Please note that only applications submitted using the official application form issued by the JDA Halala Joburg Awards will be accepted. Only fully completed forms will be considered for adjudication. The JDA offers its support where nominees require assistance in completion of the forms.

Terms and conditions
- By submitting an application, the applicant agrees to supply any additional information requested. Further, nominees consent to this information being made available to adjudicators and third parties associated with the awards process.
- The short-listed nominees and winners agree to participate in reasonable promotional and educational activities and are agreeable to their likeness, company/organisation names and logos being used in this process.
- Nominations that are short-listed within the final three of each category will be required to participate in a small exhibition the evening of the Halala Joburg Awards Showcase Seminar in of June 2011. All exhibition materials will be supplied by the organisers and further guidance will be given should the finalist wish to display additional material.
- The Halala Joburg Awards Adjudication Panel is appointed by the JDA, and will incorporate esteemed individuals with appropriate expertise and in-depth knowledge in regeneration, development, investment and social development. The Panel will assess the entries, from which a short-list will be compiled per category.
- The adjudicators have the right to withhold an award in any category, if they feel the entries are not of sufficient merit.
- The adjudicators may reallocate a nomination to a different category should this be deemed appropriate.
- The organisers reserve the right to change the venue, time and date for the Awards Showcase entirely at their discretion. In such an event, notice thereof will be disseminated as quickly as possible to nominees and all associated relevant parties.
- The adjudicators’ decision is final and binding, No correspondence will be entered into.
- The JDA, City of Johannesburg and/ or any sponsors or companies associated with the awards accept no responsibility for materials submitted as these are considered non-returnable. It is advised that original documents are not used in supporting material submissions.
- There must be no matter of material concern, such as pending litigation, financial, labour matters or any other issue that the Adjudication Panel should be aware of, in considering a nominee as a finalist.
- It is reiterated that by entering an application in the JDA Halala Joburg Awards, you agree to these terms and conditions.
